It has nothing to do with sports. It is related to business. It is specifically related to franchised businesses. The "Team" is the leadership team of a franchise. Meeting this team is the last step in the franchise discovery process.
Another name for "franchise discovery process" is the “franchise award granting process.”
Near the end of it, a franchise candidate is invited to "meet the team." The agenda typically includes dinner out the night before to get to know each other on an informal basis. The next day may include presentations by marketing, finance, and operations. A site visit to one or more local franchisees is also a nice touch.
After the Meet-The-Team-Day, the franchise leadership team makes a decision. Within a day or two, a franchise candidate will learn if he or she has been awarded territory. If so, then it’s up to the candidate to either accept or reject the award.
