Back to School (Virtually)

Like many parents, my husband and I bid our oldest farewell as he headed back to college this past weekend.  The photo below shows my son about to get into his car to head to GA Tech. Notice the trailer he’ll be pulling to Atlanta.  I’ll certainly miss my son not being around like he has been since March. The thing I won’t miss is the brown leather sofa in the trailer.  Now that it is gone, I’ve got an office already set up in the former den.  Yaayes! Now I don’t have to adjust my computer camera to avoid picking up the bed posts for my Zoom business meetings which had been occurring in the master bedroom, the only place I could hole myself up in without a TV blaring, a dog barking or family members walking through my meetings.

Of course, I told my son that I loved him and that I was proud of him, but this is the last thing I said to him before he pulled away “Wear your mask in public!”

Here’s a big thumbs up to all of us adapting to this new normal, especially all our students, faculty and school staff.  Be safe and be well!

Back to School, Virtually

Returning to school may look a little different this year. Every state’s education department is releasing a roadmap to safely reopening schools. This roadmap is only a guidance and it is not mandated, or state required. Local school districts have the authority and flexibility to make decisions that best accommodate their communities.
